Our Values

At Halogen Hair Co., our values drive everything we do.

Eco-Conscious

As a Green Circle Salon certified salon, we recycle 95% of our beauty waste and are a carbon-neutral operation. We recycle hair clippings, leftover hair color, metal tubes and foils, and single-use items like cotton balls and wood wax sticks.

We have made other changes in our business as well, like switching to eco-friendly laundry detergent pods, swapping disposable cups for glassware, and using Nespresso pods because they are recyclable aluminum instead of plastic. We might not be able to save the world by ourselves, but we are certainly doing our part.

Inclusive

Halogen is a truly safe space — we are owned and operated by folks in the LGBTQIA+ community and strive every day to make decisions about our practices that are anti-racist, queer affirming, and as all-inclusive as we can be.

We do this in a number of ways, including enforcing a zero tolerance policy for hate speech, listing our haircuts as genderless, ensuring that all of our staff is competent in all textures of hair, and offering quiet appointments.

We welcome and respect clients of all races, gender identities, sexualities, abilities, religions, and neurodivergent individuals.

Community-Focused

We can’t do much about the larger state of the world, but we can make an impact locally. We genuinely love the people that live and work here and want to serve our community. Our team does trash pickups, annual Angel Trees for Brandon’s Forever Home, annual back-to-school haircuts with the United Way, job shadowing for students, and fundraising for local organizations that help our queer community.

We host events to give folks something more productive and interesting to do than go to a bar — we’ve hosted braiding classes, knitting classes, permanent jewelry events, houseplant potting events, and have so much more in the books for the future.
